Electronics Repair & Reverse Engineering

Selected repair work done at component level. Each repair follows the same method: understand the circuit, measure, isolate the fault, repair it, and verify under real operating conditions.

Method

  • Start from the symptom and the circuit: schematics, board views or a traced-out circuit when no documentation exists.
  • Measure before replacing parts: supply rails, resistance to ground, signal presence with an oscilloscope or logic analyser.
  • Narrow the fault down to a stage, then to a component or connection.
  • Repair, then verify under real operating conditions rather than only on the bench.

Case: Bosch Motronic ECU — damaged PCB trace

A Bosch Motronic engine control unit with a severely damaged PCB trace. The repair required identifying where the trace ran and what it connected, then rebuilding the connection reliably enough for an automotive environment.

Case: Laptop motherboard power circuit

Troubleshooting a laptop motherboard that would not power on correctly, by working through the power sequence and checking each rail in order.
